Dermal Fillers.

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore lost volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Made from substances like hyaluronic acid, which naturally occurs in the skin, dermal fillers work by plumping up the skin from beneath, providing a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. These treatments are commonly used to address areas such as the cheeks, lips, and under-eye hollows, offering immediate results with minimal downtime. Dermal fillers are a popular choice for those looking to enhance their natural beauty and counteract the effects of aging.

Who can have a Dermal Filler Treatment?

Dermal fillers are suitable for individuals looking to enhance their facial contours, restore lost volume, and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. They can be beneficial for a wide range of people, including those seeking to address concerns such as sagging skin, deep lines, and loss of facial volume.

Skin Type: Dermal fillers are appropriate for most skin types, including normal, dry, oily, and combination skin. However, individuals with certain skin conditions, such as active infections, inflammation, or allergies to filler ingredients, may not be suitable candidates.

Age: Dermal fillers can be effective for individuals of various ages who are experiencing signs of aging, such as volume loss and deep wrinkles. While they are commonly sought after by those in their 30s and older, younger individuals may also benefit from fillers as a preventive measure or to enhance specific facial features.

Skin Concerns: Dermal fillers are particularly effective for addressing concerns such as sagging skin, deep lines, wrinkles, and loss of volume in areas like the cheeks, lips, and under-eye region. If you have these concerns and wish to rejuvenate your appearance, dermal fillers may be suitable for you.

Medical History: It is essential to disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or medications you are currently taking to your healthcare provider before undergoing dermal filler treatments. Certain medical conditions or medications may affect your eligibility for the procedure.

Expectations: It is important to have realistic expectations about the results of dermal filler treatments. While they can provide significant improvements in facial volume, contour, and smoothness, individual results may vary. Multiple sessions may be required to achieve the desired outcome.

How often should I have a Dermal Filler Treatment?

The effects of dermal fillers typically last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the type of filler used and the area treated. To maintain the desired results, it is recommended to schedule follow-up treatments as needed. Your healthcare provider will guide you on the appropriate treatment schedule based on your specific goals and the longevity of the results.

After Care:

During the first 24 hours, avoid touching or washing the treated areas, and do not apply any moisturisers or makeup. Allow the filler to settle properly.

12-72 hours post-treatment, you may apply mineral makeup if necessary. Continue to use a gentle cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum, and SPF to protect the skin. A chemical-free sunscreen is highly recommended to prevent irritation.

After 48 to 72 hours following treatment, you can return to your regular skincare regimen. Retinol products are strongly suggested to enhance and maintain the results.

Avoid alcohol-based toners for 10-14 days and limit excessive sun exposure for at least 10 days to prevent any complications or discoloration.

For at least 3 days post-treatment, do NOT use any products containing Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula), or any other ‘active’ skincare products that may irritate the treated areas.

No sauna, baths, or swimming for 1 week to prevent any interference with the filler.

Avoid using scrubs or exfoliators for 1 week to allow the skin to heal properly.

Refrain from strenuous exercise for 1-2 days to reduce the risk of swelling or bruising.
